Maqāṣid Syarīʿah Da'wah Journalism Model in PTKIN Hajj Guidance

Abstract

This article aims to formulate a maqāṣid syarīʿah-based journalistic model of da'wah in the practice of KBIH-PTKIN Hajj guidance by integrating conceptual and empirical approaches. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design limited to the practice of manasik guidance in the PTKIN environment, supported by literature studies and document analysis. Data were obtained through analysis of the manasik module, limited observation, and semi-structured interviews with KBIH guides. The results show that Hajj guidance can be understood as a practice of journalistic da'wah involving the processes of gatekeeping, framing, and distribution of religious messages based on maqāṣid values. Maqāṣid syarīʿah functions as an editorial ideology that directs the selection and construction of messages, while PTKIN acts as a value curation institution that ensures the consistency of a moderate and contextual religious orientation. This study offers an operational model consisting of three layers: ideological (maqāṣid), operational (gatekeeping-framing), and distributional (multimodal digital). This model emphasizes that manasik is not only instructional in nature, but also a process of constructing religious meaning. The main contribution of this article is to present a new perspective in the study of Islamic journalism by positioning the Hajj rituals as a practice of producing religious discourse based on systemic, adaptive, and transformative values.
