The Vol. 14 No. 1 edition of the KANAL Journal presents diverse academic contributions from researchers and lecturers across leading Indonesian universities, reflecting a richness of perspectives in communication and social studies as well as highlighting the crucial role of communication research in addressing contemporary issues. Contributors come from Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Esa Unggul Jakarta, Telkom University Bandung, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jawa Timur, Universitas Garut, Universitas Merdeka Madiun, Universitas Media Nusantara Citra Jakarta, Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Ampel Surabaya, and Universitas Mercu Buana Jakarta. This issue features 15 articles written by numerous scholars covering a wide range of topics, including stereotype representation in film and media, interactive communication and virtual identity on digital platforms, political campaigns through social media and photography, critical discourse analysis in music and film, the role of family communication in shaping children’s identity, and phenomenological studies on online communication.
